Powerhouse catches fire at SirNepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has increased the duration of power outage to seventy-seven hours in a week from seventy hours. The new schedule is effective from today. NEA cited the increment in power cut to reduction in electricity production following a decrease in water level in rivers.
According to NEA Load Dispatch Center, the current production in the national grid stands at 300 megawatts electricity. This figure was 780 megawatts before winter. Similarly, 235 megawatts of electricity is being imported from India daily.
Demand (1,300 megawatts every day) for electricity has gone up in the country as its consumption has abruptly gone up mainly for cooking purpose due to severe fuel crisis in the country resulting from the border obstructions.
